Business Meeting

The social enterprise sector continues to emerge in the Jamaican economy and has seen rapid growth and increased attention in recent times. Social enterprises are organisations that are established with objectives beyond being solely focused on profit maximization, incorporating social objectives linked to their targeted beneficiaries.

Within the Jamaican context, social enterprises are defined as:

“Social enterprises are business entities that apply commercial           strategies to maximize social impact through improvements in           human and environmental problems”

MSME Policy, 2017 (p. 9).
